Mr. Narayan D. Bareth

Professor

(Media Studies)

A senior journalist with a career spanning nearly three decades before joining HJUJ, Professor Narayan Bareth heads the Department of Media Studies at HJUJ. Starting with the Navbharat Times in Kota, he has worked with several news groups including Asian Age, BBC, Dainik Bhaskar, Deccan Chronicle and The Pioneer in his long journalistic journey.

 

As a veteran journalist of Rajasthan, he has toured the desert region extensively in reporting on drought situations and covering issues like Indo- Pak border, migration and inflow of refugees from neighboring Pakistan. In addition, he has filed several special stories on social discrimination, empowerment of women and developmental stories from marginalized sections like Muslims and Dalits in the state. Prof Bareth also travelled on Gandhis famous Dandi March route from Sabarmati to Dandi in 2005 and filed stories on his legacy. Besides attending many Orientation Programmes, he has delivered lectures on media and journalism and participated in workshops at various places.


Dr. Manoj Lodha

Associate Professor

(Media Studies)

After a Masters Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication, Dr Manoj Lodha wrote a Doctoral Thesis on Incredible Change in Newspaper World at the MLS University in Udaipur. He has also done a Post Graduate Diploma in Tourism and Hotel Management, a Diploma in Culture and Tourism, a PG Diploma on the Thought and Contribution of Jawaharlal Nehru and a PG Diploma in Human Rights.

 

Dr Lodha has about 15 years of teaching experience and before joining the HJUJ Faculty, he was working as an Assistant Professor at the Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University in Patan. In addition, he has worked for over a decade as a journalist in various state and national level newspapers. He specializes in Page Layout and Designing and his major research interests focus around socio-economic issues and Development Journalism. Besides completing three Research Projects from the UGC, New Delhi and GSACS, Ahmedabad, he has authored and edited eight books and written 15 research papers.


Dr. Anil Kumar Mishra

Assistant Professor

(Media Studies)

After MPhil and Masters Degree in Mass Communication from the Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University in Wardha, Maharashtra, Anil Mishra cleared the prestigious UGC-NET exam in Mass Communication and Journalism in 2012. Recently, he submitted his doctoral thesis on "Study of Indo-Pak Media in the context of Peace Process" under the supervision of Prof. Ram Sharan Joshi at the same university in Wardha.

 

Besides participating in several seminars and conferences, he has written and translated various articles for prominent national dailies and magazines like Jansatta, Dainik Bhaskar, Lokamat Samachar, Samkaaleen Teesari Duniya, Jan Media, Kathadesh. He is keenly interested in a number of crucial areas of research such as the Role of Media in War and Peace, Geo-political Issues of South Asia and Media, Global Media Business, Digital Journalism, Critical Pedagogy and Media Studies.


 

One of his special abilities is fluency with several languages - besides Hindi and English, he is quite comfortable in Urdu and Marathi.


Mr. Ratan Singh Shekhawat

Assistant Professor

(Media Studies)

Mr. Ratan Singh Shekhawat is Assistant Professor in the Department of Media Studies at HJUJ. Besides a Masters degree in Mass Communication from the Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar, he cleared the prestigious UGC NET examination in Journalism and Mass Communication in 2012. A Graduate from the University of Rajasthan, Mr. Shekhawat has also been trained in Journalism from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), New Delhi.

 

Besides his academic credentials, Mr.Shekhawat has worked for over eight years in leading National Newspapers like Dainik Bhaskar, Amar Ujala, Rashtriya Sahara and Business Bhaskar. Just before joining the faculty of HJUJ, he was serving as an Assistant Public Relations Officer with the Govt. of Rajasthan. His major areas of research interest include Public Relations and Journalism, impact of digital revolution on Growth of Indian Media and Development Communication.


Ms.Shalini Joshi

Assistant Professor

(Media Studies)

A well known Radio and Television journalist, Ms Shalini Joshi has a Masters Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from HNB Garhwal Central University and a PG Diploma in Journalism from IIMC, Delhi . In addition, she has also cleared the UGC NET examination and been a visiting faculty with the School of Communication in Doon University for nearly three years. She has also been a member of the Board of Studies for Mass Communication at the Uttarakhand Technical University.

 

Ms Joshi has been a media professional for the last 19 years and has worked for Zee News, Aajtak, BBC, CNEB and BBC World Service. She has travelled extensively in India and abroad to cover several significant issues like the Narmada Bachao Andolan, Tehri Dam Displacement, Fodder Scam, Smuggling in Porbander, Community conflicts and the UN Climate Change Conference in Bonn, Germany. Besides contributing articles in books and national dailies/magazines, she has co-authored a book on Web Media and three of her research articles were published in leading journals .
