Haridev Joshi University of Journalism and Mass Communication (HJUJ) is poised to be one of India's finest universities dedicated to media studies and mass communication. It is named after an eminent former Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Haridev Joshi who began his public career as a freedom fighter and a committed journalist in the tribal region of Banswara. Located in Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan, HJUJ offers an innovative curriculum in various aspects of media that combines both theory and practice through a range of post-graduate programmes based on an interdisciplinary approach and a special focus on research.
India has a vibrant media industry where newspaper circulation is growing rapidly, magazines are being launched regularly and hundreds of new TV and FM Radio Stations are being licensed annually. The need for consolidating media strengths, improving its intellectual arsenal and enhancing ethical standards of journalism in the country (and in Rajasthan) can hardly be overstated. HJUJ aims to fulfill this felt need through its multiple and creative academic programmes that will provide opportunities for personal and professional enrichment to its students. In doing so, HJUJ hopes to strengthen the processes that lead to the formation of a scholarly community dedicated to the development of thoughtful, creative and responsible Journalism in the country.
